Hi! My name is Meagan and I am a fairly recently married Christian 30-something in West Michigan. I like being crafty and making our new house a home. I spend much my time doing more “domestic” things. I have fun cooking and baking, canning, gardening, traveling, and working on our house.
Mostly, I am passionate about this beautiful state I live in. I love to work its soil and enjoy the bountiful harvests. I also love to travel and see just how much natural beauty Pure Michigan has to offer.
I am also an advocate for frugal living. I have plenty of experience that necessitated living on a budget and I highly recommend it. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in finance with a financial planning specialty and I am a Dave Ramsey certified debt counselor, so I do have a bit of actual training in this as well. Initially, I wanted to go into debt counseling, but I had a problem charging people who didn’t have money to help them; it just didn’t seem right.
I enjoy reading other people’s blogs so I thought I would try one out myself. One thing I have noticed, though, is that many of the blogs are starting to sound the same. There are too many perfect pictures of perfect projects and not enough real life. I don’t do perfect well, so I will just have to keep it real. The closest I will come to fashion tips is rolling up your sleeves to get some work done. Beyond that, it is just me doing what I do and hopefully, it will help you too.
Why “Life in the Between”?
Life is all about change; it has steps and stages. We are always in between something–at the very least between birth and death, but there are so many other important events and milestones along the way as well.
When I started this blog, I was single and working my way through college, yet wanting to settle down and have a family. Now I am married and we got the house but are still waiting for the rest of the family part. I look at this blog as a way to chronicle these changes and some of my inspirations along the way. I hope that you find a bit of help, hope, and inspiration–or at least a little humor to help you through your day.
What you will find here:
I am trying to make a conscious effort to create some cohesiveness, so these are the things I am focusing on:
Gardening—I love to garden and try out new ideas. I will try to keep you up on what I am trying, what is working, and what is not.
Michigan Travel—My parents always said I should be a tour guide. We do a lot of camping, mostly at State Parks, and we do plenty of sightseeing.
Home Improvement—We have several projects we want to do with our new home to make it our own and utilize the space better. I try to find ideas that anyone can use and post how well they work.
Cooking & Canning—These are very important to me, but I don’t feel the need to reinvent the wheel. There are tons of other food bloggers out there that are focusing on this so much more than I am. If I find something spectacular I will share it, but that is not my main focus.
That is me in a nutshell. Thanks for taking the time to join me here. I hope this can be a place we can gather and share ideas. Please let me know how I’m doing or if there is something you would like to read about here. I would love to hear from you.
